Clay Element Policies

We are excited you are interested in Clay Element Ceramic Studio. Please carefully review our policies to ensure Clay Element services are right for you. Please note we are still refining our studio policies and policies will be updated from time to time.

Membership Policies
  • Registration

    • All members must attend an orientation session before joining

    • Membership is self-guided, meaning members should have experience working with clay and be able to throw, build, glaze, and autonomously perform all phases of pottery creation

    • Memberships start on the day you sign up and are billed on that day every month thereafter

    • All membership are on a month to month basis and are cancellable per cancellation terms at anytime

    • All members are assigned a unique access code to access the studio

  • In order to ensure a great experience for everyone, memberships are limited and offered typically on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Members must be at least 18 years old

  • All studio space should be reserved in advance. Members are welcome to use any open space in the studio but will need to relinquish space to members who hold active reservations

  • We have a members only space and a separate space for classes, workshops, and private events. Members are welcome to use the classroom space while classes are not in session; however, class space must be relinquished during scheduled events. We do not host events in the members only space

  • Please clean your workspace at the end of your session

  • Kilns are only to be loaded, unloaded, and operated by Clay Element staff. Please do not attempt, under any circumstance, to operate the Clay Element kilns

  • Please respect other members work and exercise caution and care with other members creation. Clay Element is not responsible for broken pieces

  • We strongly recommend using clay purchased from Clay Element and glazes provided by Clay Element. External clay may be used with permission from Clay Element staff. Clay Element only fires at cone 5

  • Memberships studio is for the use and enjoyment of the member only.

  • Cancellation

    • 10 days notice is required before membership renewal to avoid cancellation fees

    • To cancel your membership please email info@clayelement.com

    • Cancellations are not prorated

    • All artwork and personal items must be removed on the last day of membership

Classes and Workshop Policies
Glazing and Firing Policies
  • Clay Element fires at cone 5 only

  • Clay Element staff takes the utmost care with you creations; however, Clay Element is not responsible for pieces broken during firing

Studio Policies
  • Artwork will be held for 30 days. Clay Element may donate or dispose artwork left longer than 30 days

  • Please be respectful and courteous to all. We are here to help each other learn, grow, and nurture our love for pottery

  • Please store artwork in designated spaces provided. Please do not store artwork in common spaces like handbuilding tables, wheels, glaze tables, etc

  • All Clay Element guests use Clay Element studio entirely at their own risk

  • Only Clay Element staff may load, unload, or start kilns. Due to safety concerns any guest violating this policy will be ask to separate from Clay Element Studio

  • Please be respectful to others. Use headphones when listening to music or watching videos, take phone calls outside,

  • Clay purchases are on a first come, first serve basis via the membership portal on clayelement.com. Please email us at info@clayelement.com for special clay requests

  • Clay Element reserves the right to cancel memberships, classes, private events, and workshops at any time. If any activity at Clay Element studio is cancelled at our discretion a full refund will be issued

  • Out of respect for the artwork created by Clay Element guests, no pets are allowed in the studio

  • Security cameras - We believe in balancing privacy, security, and disclosure. We have three security cameras at Clay Element Studio. Two are outside for security purposes and one is inside the kiln room for liability purposes. There are no security cameras in the studio

Private Event Policies

Thank you for choosing Clay Element for your special gathering! To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, please review the following policies for private events:

Booking & Payment

  • A minimum event fee applies (based on group size and activity selection).

  • Events must be paid in full at the time of booking to secure your date and time.

  • Additional participants beyond the base package will be billed accordingly.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • Full refund available if cancellation is made at least 14 days before the event date.

  • 50% refund available if cancellation is made 24 hours to 14 days before the event.

  • No refunds for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the event.

  • Rescheduling may be accommodated depending on availability.

Arrival & Duration

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in.

  • Events begin and end on schedule; additional time may incur extra fees if available.

  • Studio access is limited to the reserved time frame.

Food & Beverages

  • You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages with an additional fee unless otherwise noted.

  • Please inform us in advance if you will be bringing food so we can prepare the space accordingly.

Participants & Supervision

  • All participants must follow instructor guidance and studio safety rules.

  • Children under 12 require adult supervision unless the event is specifically designed for kids.

  • Maximum capacity may vary depending on the type of activity.

Clay Work & Finished Pieces

  • All clay, tools, glazes, and firing are included unless otherwise specified.

  • Finished pieces will be available for pickup 3–4 weeks after the event.

  • We will notify the event organizer when pieces are ready.

  • Pickup window: Please collect items within 30 days of notification, as space is limited.

Studio Care

  • Please respect the studio, tools, and equipment.

  • Any damages caused by misuse may incur an additional fee.

Liability

  • Clay Element is not responsible for injuries resulting from failure to follow safety instructions.

  • By participating, guests agree to follow all studio guidelines.

Thank you for joining us at Clay Element! To ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone, please take a moment to review our class policies:

  • Arrival

    Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so you can get settled. Classes begin promptly.

  • Attire

    Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting clay on. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

  • Cancellations & Rescheduling

    Class fees are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, please notify us at least 48 hours before your class. Late cancellations or no-shows cannot be credited or rescheduled.

  • Finished Pieces

    Clay work takes time! Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks. We will email or text you once they are fired and ready.

  • Pickup Window

    Please pick up your pieces within 30 days of the pickup notice. Unclaimed pieces may be donated or discarded due to limited space.

  • Studio Etiquette

    Be kind, patient, and respectful of others. Pottery is a journey—everyone learns at their own pace.

  • Tools & Equipment

    Please handle tools and equipment with care and return them to their designated areas after use.
