Clay Element Ceramic Studio

Celebrate Life As You

Elmira

Since childhood, my hands were always drawn to creating beauty out of anything I touched, from simple wrappers to my homework. Even as I pursued a career in telecommunications, I yearned to work with my hands. After rediscovering clay last spring, I realized how deeply it resonates with me. Now, I’m opening my studio to help others reconnect with their inner creativity, just as I have, and embrace what their hearts have always known.

Clay Element Founder/Artist

Elaine

Hello! I’ve been throwing pottery with some hand building adventures for 12 years! Most of my creations are functional ware. When I have more time to spare, I really enjoy creating complex hand build projects. I love chatting about the science and art of this magical craft, and supporting others in their own clay journeys. Outside of clay, I teach middle school science full time 🥳.

I’ve been working with clay for about six years and I fell in love with it the minute I sat at the wheel. I’m especially drawn to throwing big and making functional pieces that feel good to hold and use every day. Glazing is one of my favorite parts of the process and I’m always experimenting with new combos and layering techniques to see what kind of magic comes out of the kiln. I really enjoy being in the studio, talking about clay, and helping people build confidence in their own creative process.

Instructor

Corey

Welcome to the studio! I'm Corey, full time parent and part time ceramicist. I am originally from Philadelphia, and now live in the shadow of Mt Rainier, where I draw most of my inspiration. I am a self taught ceramicist, and have explored all variety of techniques, but I have found an affinity for handbuilding, sculpture, and atmospheric firings. My work often reflects nature, and my favorite sculpture subjects are native wildlife. In community ceramics spaces, I strive to build a welcoming third place for all to learn and grow as artists and craftspeople together. I love answering questions and talking about clay, nature, and art, so please say, "Hi!" when you see me! I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with you, and hope to see you in the studio soon.
